Summer harvest is always a great time of the year. But you can also be disappointed when you start to cut up fruit and discover a maggot. Josh Byrne explains that there are over two hundred types of fruit fly in Australia that can infest fruit, but only two that you need to be concerned about to protect South Australia’s agricultural crops: Queensland fruit fly from the east coast and Mediterranean fruit fly in Western Australia. Follow the Fruit fly video to learn how to control the common fruit fly. If you suspect that you have the evil type, contact PIRSA for help: PIRSA fruit fly web page.
